We call it “ferocious” – our customers call it “very impressive”; “great fun” and “more enjoyable to drive than my V12 Vantage S automatic”.
We had six lucky customers test drive our Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Manual today. We won’t even get our demonstrator until September so it was a pretty special experience.
The return of the manual-shift transmission brings motorsport engineering and race-car capability to the road – so we thought it might be fun to introduce a professional driving instructor from the Aston Martin factory.
“It was better than I expected to be honest,” one customer – who already owns a V12 – told us.
“The technology is much better in this model but I suppose that’s because it’s not just a new gearbox, the car has evolved from when V12 Vantage S first came out,” another pointed out.
One gentleman came in with a huge grin on his face and simply said, “That was great fun!” He said he was “a manual gearbox man” so loved the extra control. He too already has a V12 Vantage S.
So what is so special about this model?
Well, the manual-shift transmission creates the ultimate analogue experience in a digital world. We’re talking seamless gear changes at high engine speeds with the new “AM-Shift” function. The new function aids the driver in keeping the engine revs high whilst changing gear, even when your right foot is planted to the floor. A stunning piece of new technology which also gives you an awesome exhaust note when down-shifting.
As our test drivers today found out, it provides maximum engagement between driver, vehicle and road.
The V12 S is the pinnacle of the Vantage range. It combines the V12 engine with our lightest sports car. Some stats:
With enhanced low and mid-range power the new-generation AM28 engine pushes the V12 Vantage S to a top speed of 205mph, creating the fastest series production model we’ve ever made.
There’s also the awesome new infotainment system, AMi III.
It’s a fully intuitive experience, with updated Satellite Navigation system, Bluetooth® as standard, text message integration and loads of connectivity options, including Apple CarPlay.
There’s a huge range of tactile finishes and it has touch sensitive switchgear featuring haptic feedback technology.
Like all Aston Martins it is a thing of beauty, but it’s not just a pretty face… This model’s bold carbon fibre grille and dramatically louvred bonnet channel more air into the engine bay to cool the V12.
There’s even a Sport-Plus pack, giving more power, more torque and a stunning range of added design features.
Come and see it for yourself next month when we welcome it into our showroom.
